This spring a new collaboration has formed between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the Malmö Food Council. The Sustainable Gastronomy Day Restaurant Week 2024 was planned to happen in Malmö. The Malmö Food Council coordinated the project locally to highlight the sustainable gastronomy culture internationally.
Adopted in 2016, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) and the UN General Assembly were assigned to facilitate the observance of Sustainable Gastronomy Day, in collaboration with Member States, UN organizations and other international and regional bodies, as well as civil society, to observe the Day in raising public awareness of its contribution to sustainable development.
